Back in 1927, The Fraternal Order of Eagles was built on 405 Washington Avenue. This building had many areas inside of the location. There are areas like the huge ballroom/dining room. They have a huge stage. They also have two big dressing rooms, and the best part is the downstairs bowling alley that has a very cool and rich history to it.
Many people don’t know about the old ways they used to have bowling. Back in the past people would sit behind the areas to fix the pins since they were manually fixed because back in the day technology wasn’t as advanced yet. Since the people usually fixed the pins each round you would think a lot of accidents would become a thing. It is said that many people have been hit with the pins when they go flying out of the created area for the pins.
Another important part of the Howard is that they have a huge ballroom/dining area that has a huge stage in it. They use it for weddings, parties, and concerts, and they at one point even had Johnny Cash perform on their stage. A lot of interesting things happened at The Howard back when it used to be other operations, like when it was Oshkosh East High School.
